How to Get an Accurate Moving Quote in Los Angeles (and Avoid Surprises)

Most moving-day surprises come from missing information, not bad math. The more your mover knows up front, the more accurate the crew size, truck and time estimate.
1. Make a real inventory
List furniture room by room and estimate box count. Include the garage, patio and storage closet; they're the most forgotten.
2. Send a quick video walkthrough
A 2–3 minute phone video of each room, closets open, beats any written list. Point out heavy or unusual items: safes, marble tables, large mirrors, art.
3. Describe access at both addresses
- Floor number, stairs, elevator (and whether it must be reserved)
- Distance from the truck to the door: long walks happen in LA high-rises and hillside homes (long walks are included in our hourly rate)
- Narrow streets or steep driveways (we can use a pickup with a small closed trailer)
- Building requirements such as a certificate of insurance (we provide COIs)
4. Mention parking
Where can the truck park? Is there a loading zone? Street parking only? This changes the plan, so say it up front.
5. Say what packing help you need
Full packing, just the kitchen, or only fragile items? Packing/unpacking, wardrobe boxes, shrink wrap and blankets are included in our hourly rate.
6. Mention special items early
Pianos are moved only by advance request.
7. Get it in writing
Ask for the hourly rate, crew size and what's included in writing.
